Week 2 of the Circum-Ohio tour is going to be a scenic blast! It would be awesome if you could join us. Days will be long and tough, but we’ll get to see stretches of our beautiful state in a new and remarkable way.
Trip Date: October 3 – 8, 2011
Total Length: 467 miles
Average Day: 78 miles
Trip Fee: $190 if registered by 9/1/11
Week 2 will have long days throughout, but the terrain will be less challenging than week 1 for the most part. We’ll pedal off from Youngstown, Ohio on the morning of October 3 and put 70 miles on our tires to Cleveland. From there we’ll follow the scenic Lake Erie Coast and make overnight stops in Sandusky and Toledo. Then we’ll turn south across Ohio’s flattest lands, put our heads down and do 90 to 100 mile days stopping in Van Wert, Dayton and finally returning to Cincinnati!
Once we hit Cincinnati, we’ll collapse on the floor, but then get back up a few minutes later drink a bunch of Mountain Dew and do the jig. The “I just rode my bike all the way ’round Ohio” jig.
I’m really looking forward to getting to know a group of cyclists over the Circum-Ohio trip. Whether you’re in it for week 1, week 2 or both, I think you’re guaranteed to meet a lot of great people.
Week 2 is for cyclists. You don’t need to be a professional athlete or be in the best shape of your life, but you do need to have a few training miles under your belt.
It’s going to be a great time – win, lose or draw, you won’t regret having signed up and given it your best shot.
